The beautiful banner is courtesy of [info]_flutter aka secretstar, aka my artwork angel. Everyone, sing her praises. Also, if you have/want to make art that corresponds with A Stranger in Autumn (fits the theme, mood, subject matter, features the three main characters), don't be shy, I'll feature you here on this journal. Contributions are welcome! Sink into this imaginary world! However, it has to be quality - if you're in doubt, measure it by secretstar's for the golden standard :-}

I'm confused. I'm upset. This hurts. I was so sure Amy'd fuck it up - so cocksure cause I had a reason to be, and now I got bitchslapped by the best writing this show's seen in the last two seasons. The episode - Jess - Rory - Lorelai- all perfect.
Now I don't know what to do with myself. With my fic.
I'll finish a Stranger in Autumn only because I signed it up for Nanowrimo - once I made it my project, it just became a fact. I have to carry it through. But I'm at a serious loss here - my brain muddled. I can't stop using ------- in my -- writing. I'm standing here with my hands up in the air.
I guess I should be squeeing. But frankly it hurt, because it was like reliving my lost past relationship and sort of seeing my own life play out and it made me miss ........
oh well.
Oh I hate Amy. I love Jess. I hate Rory because she had Jess, although I don't hate Alexis Bledel for having Milo because Milo could be a Grade-A ass like Logan was in real life and I wouldn't know it. The only thing we do know is Lit - lit love, lit world, my world, fake world, God I am so stuck.
I can only continue the fic the way I was imagining it, and ignore the show and "real" circumstances altogether. God! Damn.

Third chapter is finally up. The excitement, the eeeking, the yaying,
the lol-ing, the ???!!!! shit is over.
And the hard work has begun. I may be producing 1,500 words a day but I can't post them that fast - first of all, because I hate to subject anyone to my unedited fics. You'd hate to see what that looks like - check some of my earlier work. So I'll try to post at least once or twice a week, to avoid burnout; one of the rules of Nanowrimo is No Editing, so this is tricky.
But I don't mind a bit of extra work. Enjoy.

Coming Soon [Oct. 25th, 2005|04:40 pm]
Hey everyone, just to update, i'm at work on the next chapter right now, halfway through :-} Gah it's exciting, all this stuff happening so quickly - when you've got a plotbunny, that thing just runs off with you. is that why it's called a plotbunny? where the heck did that emerge from - roots, anyone?
So, off this sunday to kick-off the Nanowrimo, at a coffeehouse that also happens to serve wine - as though writers weren't bad enough on caffeine only - i forsee some interesting plot babbling and grandiose ideas, fervent monologues and random bursts of euphoria spilling out all over the place, i feel sorry for whoever has to work there that night.
Too bad GG fic writers can't have a conference like that once a year. But with the direction this show's taken, i don't think there'd be enough people even showing up. Hey, trekkies do it, don't they?
So: a question for all and any who care:
I was thinking about tossing Tristan back into the mix as Logan's unexpected childhood friend - it's a very real possibility - how many uber rich people in Hartford aren't at least aware of each other, if not actually aquainted? I'm assuming Logan hails from around Hartford b/c his mother goes to DAR functions there, which you wouldn't really do if you weren't from the area. Tristan and Logan very possibly could have been friends - they even have similar temperaments -
Anyway, it might add an interesting dynamic. I'd certainly keep him off to the side, and definitely not in love with Rory - that's a wee bit much.
I'm just curious if people think I should leave it alone and stop flagging dead horses or if anyone actually still thinks of him as a character. I figured he could serve to refuel Logan's ambition to hold on to Rory, because Logan wouldn't want to be the loser in front of Tristan, or allow Tristan's prophecy about Rory ultimately being unattainable (as dictated by personal experience).
I don't know. There's a lot of uses for him. But in a Literati story?
Hmmmmm.......

The Prologue and Introduction [Oct. 22nd, 2005|06:25 pm]
Hey everyone! Welcome to A Stranger in Autumn, the last Literati (and hopefully best or at least longest) fic from lucia marin. For starters, I have to repeat what I said in my ffnet chapter: I really appreciate the support. I know I’m not the most communicative or hell – reliable- author ever, but for everyone who’s reviewed any of my stories, you’re the force behind the fiction, the reason, the lifeblood. You sort of make me feel like it does matter, that it’s real. There are hundreds upon hundreds of you that've left more over a thousand reviews, that visited One Year in droves (over 50,000 hits in one.5 years!), who enjoyed secretstar's art and archived me on your personal sites, who wrote me encouraging e-mails. If I ever publish a novel, I promise you'll be in the credits.
I owe a lot to you.
Anyway, there’ll be more stuff posted up there about my current intentions for this story – possibly turning it into the NaNoWriMo project – national novel writing month – where you’re under contract to produce 50,000 words in one month (that’d be about 30 chapters of this story, longest and most convoluted I’ve ever done).
For more info, check out the nanowrimo site at www.nanowrimo.org
Nothing sure yet, but I’d appreciate your input. Is it a wise idea to try to turn a fanfic into a novel length work? I’m really not sure, apprehensive, and If any other fanfic writer out there is doing nanowrimo, holler at me. I’d like some advice.
Just leave a post on the lj, or write an e-mail. Anyway, here’s the first chap.
Enjoy.
